Many people think that the main thing is to receive a presidential grant, but in fact the main thing is to report for it on time, correctly and beautifully. A presidential grant is not only an honor, but also very responsible.

Application for Presidential Grant 2018

1. About the project

1. Grant direction, which primarily corresponds to the planned project activities: support for projects in the field of science, education, enlightenment

1.1. The subject of the grant direction, which primarily corresponds to the planned activities of the project: assistance and implementation of activities in the field of education, additional education for children, additional vocational education

2. Name of the project for which the grant is requested: Social 3D modeling online.

3. Brief description of the project (activities within the project):

The main idea of the project is to promote professional self-determination of 200 schoolchildren by combining social engineering with design and 3D modeling.

Distance classes in the form of webinars are held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 18.00 to 19.00. The entire course consists of 14 lessons on 3D modeling () and 14 lessons on social design, including social design, emotional intelligence (), personal growth, career plans (). Classes are organized in the form of webinars, which can be listened to not only in a computer class, but also from the comfort of your home. For classes you need a computer connected to the Internet.

The high efficiency of the educational program allows you to achieve tangible results in training in a short time and significantly increase the level of professional training of participants. Special techniques, an intensive training regimen and a significant amount of independent work help to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary in the future to participate in school Olympiads and receive additional points for the Unified State Exam.

Both individual and team training are possible. During classes, teams are given more complex tasks to work together. Schoolchildren from 14 years of age are invited. Advantage will be given to students with home-based education and from remote small schools. Webinar participants are not required to have any special knowledge or skills, but they must be willing to complete the entire course from start to finish and take part in the work competition, which is the final stage of the project. The best works are printed on a 3D printer.

The relevance of the project is that for the target audience, training in “hard” and “soft” skills is combined within the framework of one project.

The training will take place in two streams of 150 registered users, of which 100 schoolchildren will be trained in each stream. The first stream starts on 09/01/18 and ends on 12/31/18. Summing up the results of the 1st stream and preparing for the second from 01/01/19 to 01/31/19. Second stream from 02/01/19 to 05/31/19

The following roles are introduced in the project: Team Member, Individual Participant, Team Mentor, Understudy, Observer, Parent. They all participate in project activities, and they all receive information support.

The results of the project are: professional self-determination, disclosure of creative abilities, training of schoolchildren as carriers of project culture, as creators of a subject environment, which will increase their competitiveness in the labor market.

Registration of participants and schedule of classes is carried out on the website http://edu-biz.org, information support is provided on the website http://en101.org..

4. Geography of the project:

The choice of region is determined by the applications received from educational organizations to participate in the project and the availability of beneficiaries. This is mainly Moscow and the Moscow region. This is due to the fact that in 2014, 200 schools in the Moscow region were equipped with 3D laboratories. These laboratories include computers, 3D printers and 3D scanners. And even earlier, all schools in the Moscow region were connected to the Internet.

Any school or NGO working with children from any region can apply application to participate. Applications from individual participants are also accepted. By participating in the project, you become a partner in the implementation of the project, which is applied for a presidential grant. It's not too late to apply for the 2018-2019 academic year.

5. Project start date: 09/01/2018
6. Project completion date: 05/31/2019
7. Justification of the social significance of the project for the presidential grant:

According to the modern concept of social design, it should not only create products, but also solve the problems of people living in a particular area. The products themselves must be truly tailored to the needs of the local population. But in any territory there are still many groups that are called socially vulnerable. Therefore, one of the tasks of social design is to study their needs, abilities, skills and activities in order to offer these groups an adequate design solution.

Social 3D modeling is one of the components of social design.

Social design requires specialists who are able to perceive the design process comprehensively. Unfortunately, according to the founders of social design, not a single university produces designers of this level. And they need to be prepared starting from school.

The problem is complicated by the fact that many teenagers are poorly aware of their abilities, do not know the requirements of the labor market for the competencies of specialists, do not have the skills to achieve these competencies, and do not have a specific plan for mastering a profession and finding employment in their area of residence.

According to the laboratory of socio-professional self-determination of youth of the ISMO RAO (http://my-orientir.rf/):

  • 50% of high school students do not correlate their choice of profession with their real capabilities;
  • 46% are guided by the opinions of parents and relatives when choosing a profession;
  • 67% have no idea about the essence of their chosen profession.

A partial solution to these problems is the creation and implementation of a training and seminar program that ensures professional self-determination, development of project competence and the ability to work in a team.

Experts note that self-determination is a long stage, but everyone must go through it. Among the new pedagogical technologies aimed at solving the problems posed, social practice and the methodology of social design occupy a special place. It is project-based learning that today is becoming the means that allows us to develop such key competencies.

Key competencies:

  • ability to take initiative,
  • to take responsibility,
  • willingness to notice problems and look for ways to solve them,
  • be able to master new knowledge and apply it to analyze new situations,
  • be able to make decisions, i.e. be socially adapted,
  • have a set of qualities and knowledge for successful self-realization,
  • feel your importance in almost any field of activity.

However, surveys conducted (a total of 340 teachers took part) showed that about 36% of teachers do not use the project method in educational activities. There are several reasons: a lack of knowledge about the project method, a lack of time in class, limited resources and students’ workload with other subjects.

On the other hand, there is interest in design education, which is associated with a person’s awareness of the possibilities of new technologies for his personal development and self-realization. The highest level of development of the ability to design one’s own activities in various socio-cultural situations is called “project culture.” Formation of a project culture is one of the components of the project.

7.1. Full description of the project, presentation of the project:

Municipal educational institution secondary school No. 4 in Fryazino.pdf
Kurovskaya secondary school No. 2.pdf

A forum is used for team interaction between participants. Registration of participants, schedule and program of classes http://edu-biz.org/ .

If the results of the competition for a presidential grant are positive, an advertising campaign is carried out on the social network and on friendly websites.

13. Quantitative results:

number of people who received services in the field of education and enlightenment: 200
number of people who took part in project events: 300

14. Qualitative results:

Professional self-determination.
This indicator is determined by the rating of participants when completing creative and homework assignments.

Preparing schoolchildren as carriers of project culture.
The indicator is determined by the degree of proficiency in software tools for creating creative work.

Preparing schoolchildren as creators of a subject environment.
Determined by the level of graphic (visual) implementation of the plan during execution
creative tasks.

Unlocking your creative potential.
The value of the indicator is determined based on the results of the final competition

15. Further development of the project:

Further development of the project will be the creation of a virtual community of children and adults and
involving schoolchildren in the activities of this community.

The community will function on the principle of a club association.

The sustainability of the achieved results is due to the availability of educational and methodological support, personnel, financial and logistical conditions for the implementation of the project, as well as in consolidating the acquired knowledge and skills in practice (participation in the competition).

An example of such a community of professional designers is the activities of the organization “Design21: social design network”. The Social Design Network's mission is to inspire social consciousness through design by connecting people and organizations who want to explore the ways in which design can positively impact local communities. The Design 21 network has a database with links to participating developers and design organizations leading the development of projects organized by social themes and by type of social design. The network also organizes design competitions that allow members to create solutions to social problems. A forum has been created for non-profit organizations to request design assistance.

This article is a logical continuation of the first part, devoted to various aspects of obtaining a grant. Today we will examine in detail the remaining questions: how to write a project to participate in a grant competition, how to prepare a stunning project defense, and how to effectively spend grant money, while accounting for every ruble spent. So, let's begin.

How to get a grant for a project?

Let me remind you, dear friend, that in the previous article we proceeded from a plan, using which you can quite easily obtain grant funds (if, of course, you have properly worked out each point of the plan).

Grant plan

1. Determine the problem.

2. We are looking for potential grantmakers.

3. We study the requirements.

4. We write a project.

5. Prepare the defense.

6. We receive a grant.

7. We make a report on the funds spent.

We discussed the first 3 points of the plan (identifying the key problem, searching for potential grantmakers, studying the requirements for participation in a grant competition) in some detail in the first part. It's time to pay special attention to the remaining points.
So, let's begin.

4. We write a project.

A project is the main work that you present to the commission, which distributes grants among the competition participants. I talked in more detail about writing a project in this article: Where to start writing a project?

Be sure to read it, because... it describes the main components of a competent project. Here I want to tell you about those “tricks” that will help you win the competition for a grant. These “secrets” were “declassified” by me and many other participants in similar competitions in the course of practical activities.

In fact, there are no “super-mega-secrets”, but there are certain points that are worth paying close attention to.

Secrets of writing a project to receive a grant

1. Thoroughly study the problem on which the project is based.

Believe it or check it, but you must know THOROUGHLY about every nuance, every aspect of your project. The list of must have (required thorough knowledge) includes:

— statistics on the problem;

— interest of the target group;

- material security;

— physical ability to implement the project.

And now, in order. Concerning statistics on the problem, then you must definitely know how many people need your project, who they are (you need to understand your target group to which the project is aimed) and other similar aspects.

People rightfully assume that you are an expert in this field if you are going to solve the corresponding problem. Duck, show yourself in all your glory, “kill” everyone with your knowledge of the issues!

It is also very important to find out in advance interest of the target group in project. We already talked about this a little in the first part. A member of the grant committee can calmly ask you: “Have you conducted any sociological research to determine interest in your idea?”

Naturally, you must say that yes, I did. It's better to actually do at least a little research to be sure that the game is worth the candle and that the effort spent will not be in vain.

In addition, very often, when analyzing the competition participants’ projects, commission members ask about material security project. After all, money is almost always issued on the condition that you:

a) there is already some premises and the necessary equipment for work;

b) the corresponding item is written down in the project estimate for expenses related specifically to the material base.

If none of this is reflected in your project, then it is unlikely that you will be given a grant. Some of the commission members may even joke something like this: “What do you expect? We will give you money, and you will develop it in an open field?”

Therefore, in any project (non-profit, and especially commercial), firstly, make an estimate (it is mandatory!), and, secondly, do not forget to stipulate the provision of material resources.

Concerning physical ability to implement the project, then the situation is approximately the same as with the material base. You may take on a grandiose project that you cannot implement on your own. Therefore, correlate your strengths and capabilities with your aspirations to make this world a better place. Start small, and you'll see from there!

2. Be prepared to clarify any point in your project.

Almost every time, the members of the commission have questions that, from your point of view, are practically not directly related to the project, but which are asked by experts with the tenacity of a donkey. A person from the commission may not understand some figure in the estimate calculations, or some specific term, or something else.

In fact, this point is a logical continuation of the previous one. However, it should also be treated with special attention.

Usually, when you write a project yourself, you know it really thoroughly, so that answering tricky questions about the project is not difficult. However, when a project is written by a group of people, then you may know part of the project perfectly, but the other part - so-so, due to the fact that you did not write it.

In this regard, no matter how many people write the project, each team member must know all parts of the project by heart, so that even if they wake you up at night, the person must answer all the questions.

Of course, such problems do not always arise; sometimes everything goes smoothly and easily. However, I am giving you a recipe for any occasion, so that you are prepared for any “overload” on the part of the members of the commission making decisions about issuing a grant.

3. If possible, find out in advance who will sit on the commission.

A big advantage for you, dear friend, will be information about who will sit on the commission. Moreover, it is quite possible to obtain this information. Surely your project, which you are writing for a grant, will be supervised by some mentor (for example, a teacher at a university, or an employee of the local city administration).

Your mentor, due to his professional activities, has most likely already attended similar competitions several times. In this regard, he probably knows (or even personally acquaints himself with) the members of the competition commission.

In this regard, ask your mentor for such information. How will this information be useful to you? The thing is that each member of the commission, most likely, in addition to his duties as a member of the commission group, also works on his direct duties during the rest of the working time.

Typically, such competition commissions include representatives either of various committees (if this is a state competition, respectively, the allocated funds come from the budget), or employees of a department (if this is a grant from any organization). Each member of the commission has his own professional interests, his own preferences in something.

For example, if information reaches you that the chairman of the competition committee is also a member of an animal protection organization or simply sponsors similar organizations, and your project at least in some way fits the theme of animals, then it would be nice if you focused on that your project will help protect animals from... Come up with it yourself.

Your main task is to find information about a member of the competition committee that will allow you to use it to win a grant. Just don’t find out any personal aspects of the life of the commission members - you shouldn’t engage in blackmail - this is not our method :).

Of course, there are other “tricks” that also help increase the likelihood of receiving a grant, but I told you about the most effective ones. As they say, just take it and get the result!

5. Prepare the defense.

Once you have written your proposal, the next step is to prepare a speech to defend it. Everything is standard here: you can print the speech on A4 sheets and read from them accordingly, but it is better to print out the speech, remember the main points and talk about your project in the form of improvisation, only occasionally looking at the text of the speech. Such protection is better perceived by ear, which ultimately has a more favorable effect on the competition commission.

If you are still afraid to talk about your project “without a piece of paper,” then you need to know certain standards for text size. The maximum length of the protection text is approximately equal to 3 A4 sheets with a line spacing of 1.5, 14 point (size) Times New Roman font.

Shorten the text. In a big, big secret, I’ll say that during a performance, unexpected incidents often happen that “eat up” your time (the photographer may distract you with his flashes, someone may come in and apologize for disturbing you, etc.).

Therefore, my advice to you is to keep the defense text minimal. Leave only the essentials. What must be included in the defense? It would be very good if, during your defense, you mentioned the goals and objectives of the project, the target group, the timing of the project, the project estimate, and the project participants.

Also make a presentation for your defense. It can be used as a hint when performing, if you still perform “without a piece of paper.” Based on the slides, you can completely talk about your brainchild, unless, of course, you thoroughly know all the nuances of the project (see above).

So, let's summarize. For a competent defense, you need to write a defense speech + make a presentation. During the defense, it is best to talk about your project rather than read the text from a sheet.

6. We receive a grant.

Hooray! You won the grand prize, congratulations! How can you win, once you read these articles, with all the tricks and secrets :). However, it is too early to rejoice. We still need to get these same funds.

Today, almost all grant money is transferred to a bank account. Therefore, if you are a representative of any organization, then do not forget to correctly indicate all bank details.

If you are just an individual, then the situation is a little different. Nobody will give you cash just like that. Therefore, in order to receive a grant, you will either have to create your own organization, or temporarily “join” some organization. All these points are discussed at the preliminary stage, so be very careful when reading the conditions for receiving grant assistance.

Agree, it will not be a very pleasant situation when you win a grant, but in the end you don’t receive the money due to your lack of foresight. You shouldn't let your money hang in the air. Everything should be clear: if you win a grant, you receive money.

7. We make a report on the funds spent.

Once you receive grant funds in your bank account, it is time to implement the project. What needs to be taken into account here? First of all - keep all receipts. They will be very useful to you when you, or a member of your team, draw up a report on the money spent.

In what form should the report be made? Here again, everything depends on the grant giver. All these questions are usually also spelled out in the terms and conditions of the grant competition. Your job is to read the terms and conditions carefully, carefully, carefully.

In addition, make it a rule record each transaction immediately after it is completed. For example, I bought the necessary props - recorded them, signed a rental agreement - recorded them, etc. In fact, this is one of the basic rules of accounting, but often people who are far from accounting are involved in the implementation of the project.

Therefore, take note of this rule; believe me, by applying it in practice, you will greatly save your time and nerves.

Conclusion: In this series of articles, I told you about how to get a grant for the implementation of your project.

The main insights (key points) that you should understand for yourself:

- write a project on a current topic;

— strictly follow the conditions of the grant competition;

— find out as much information as possible about the members of the competition committee (interests, hobbies, social activities);

— draw up a correct report and use the funds for their intended purpose.

I hope these tips will help you implement more than one project and receive a lot of grant support from various foundations, charities and other grantors. I wish you success in receiving a grant!

Now you know about how to get a grant.

Instructions

First of all, decide on the main idea of your grant proposal. You can go two ways: look for a competition for a specific idea or look for an idea for a specific competition. Currently, a huge number of foundations (state and non-state, Russian and international, regional and foreign) offer to take part in competitions to receive. Each of them has strict application requirements that must be strictly met.

Come up with a succinct name that reflects the main idea. Prepare the “Title Page” in accordance with the template proposed by the grantmaker.

Carefully work through the “Resume (summary)” section. Typically this section takes up exactly half of an A4 page and answers the questions:
- what is new and relevant;
- what are its goals and objectives, the main stages and expected results from the implementation of the project;
- what is the project budget, how much funds need to be raised and how much you yourself are willing to invest in. Return to this section again and again, gradually bringing it to perfection.

Proceed to writing the “Introduction-Familiarization” and “Substantiation of the Problem” sections. Use simple language. Do not overload the text with professional terms. Give vivid and imaginative examples of the current situation, leading to the conclusions you need.

The “Goals and Objectives” section should have one main goal and several task-stages to achieve it. Proper setting of tasks will make it easier to write the “Methodology and Schedule” section, since the completion of each task should be the completion of the next stage in the plan.

Pay special attention to the “Summarizing and Evaluation” section. Clearly state the expected results (tangible and intangible), linking them with the completion of task-stages. Use quantitative and qualitative evaluation indicators so that you can provide specific numbers of positive things that happened as a result of the project.

When preparing the Budget and Budget Explanation section, use the form provided by the grantmaker and only those cost items specified by the grantor. Please indicate the amounts including required taxes. Be sure to consult with an experienced accountant about what costs you may incur if you receive grant funding. It is also better to tie the budget to stages, since the grant giver often transfers funds in parts. Each expense item must be justified in the appropriate section of the application. Indicate in this section: the overall project, the amount of funds requested, the amount of available funds (at least 30% of the total amount).

When starting the “Future” section, describe possible options for prolonging (continuing) the project, and also indicate at what cost this can be accomplished. Possible options: fundraising (attracting sponsorship) or self-sufficiency.

In the “Applications” section, place materials that can help create a favorable attitude towards the members of the commission. This could be illustrations, layouts, publications, documentary evidence of previous victories in similar competitions, results of implementation of others, and the like. Enlist the support of reputable people and organizations. Let them write “letters of support for the project”, where they indicate: that the project is of particular importance, and its author is well-deserved in a particular social environment; that, if funding is received, these people (organizations) are ready to take part in the implementation of the project to the best of their ability.

Start preparing a “Covering Letter” to the competition organizers. Don't forget to include your contact information. Make an inventory of the attached documents. Record a copy of the application on electronic media. Attach it to your application. Send the package of documents by registered mail with notification to the competition organizers in advance, so that if there are any shortcomings, they can be promptly corrected.
